Reiko Sugai-Fernandez v. Southern Connecticut Pizza Inc., Samantha Stebbins, Jill Stebbins and Domino’s Pizza: A former Storrs resident has settled for $1.6 million her lawsuit against a Domino’s Pizza driver who plowed into the car she was riding in.
On Dec. 22, 2011 at approximately 6:24 p.m., Reiko Sugai-Fernandez was a rear-seat passenger in a car driven by her college friend, Erin O’Neil, in Mansfield. Samantha Stebbins, an employee of Domino’s Pizza, was driving a car marked with a Domino’s rooftop sign immediately behind O’Neil’s car. When O’Neil stopped to make a left turn into an apartment complex on South Eagleville Road, Stebbins crashed “heavily,” according to the lawsuit, into the rear of the car Sugai-Fernandez was in, causing serious injury.
