It was friendly advice, but scary. Manchester attorney Ryan Barry was warned by a judge that he ought to be worried about his personal safety. “These people play for keeps,” the jurist warned. “You have a family.”
The judge wasn’t specific about what he meant by “these people.” It was in the context of Barry’s research into the mystery-shrouded disappearance of Manchester businessman Haidar Mustafa Abushaqra on Dec. 7, 2011. As such, the judge might have been referring to international money launderers, drug smugglers, Palestinian liberationists or ruthless criminals.
