Edmundo Juarez v. Frank Sponzo: A man who injured his back after his bicycle collided with a pickup truck was recently awarded nearly $800,000 by a Hartford jury.
Edmundo Juarez, 37, of Bloomfield, was riding his $8,000 carbon fiber bicycle on Hartford Road in Simsbury at 7:42 a.m. on July 23, 2011. His lawyer, J. Xavier Pryor, of Hartford, said Juarez had come down a steep hill. As the road flattens out, Juarez decelerated from about 40 mph to 30 mph.
