Edson Flores is a convicted sex abuser. He is also an undocumented immigrant. Despite facing that double stigma, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled that he should have another chance to argue that he should be allowed to stay in the country.

The Second Circuit’s opinion is an example that “even someone with those stigmas [is entitled] to get equal justice before the law,” said Flores’ pro bono counsel, John Cerreta, of the Hartford office of Day Pitney. “I thought the Second Circuit got the law right and applied the law to the facts right.”
