Barcelona is a city in Spain. But it’s also the name of a popular chain of upscale restaurants in Connecticut. And it’s the name of one restaurant in New York state as well. And that posed a problem.
There are six Connecticut locations for the Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bar, as well as other outlets in Atlanta, Boston and Washington, D.C. The company was formed 20 years ago. A few years back, an unrelated eatery called Barcelona Wine and Taps debuted in White Plains, New York. It’s just 10 miles or so from the Barcelona Wine and Restaurant location in Greenwich, close enough to draw the attention of the multistate company’s owners.
