State Rep. William Tong, who co-chairs the legislative Judiciary Committee, said closing the facilities is one of many proposals that have been mentioned as Gov. Dannel Malloy and lawmakers address a projected $350 million budget shortfall for the current fiscal year. “I am concerned about it, because I want to make sure people in those communities are well-served,” Tong said. “Those are both well-populated areas, and I will be watching the proposal closely.”
