To some connoisseurs of sweets, Pepperidge Farm’s Milanos are to cookies what Dom Perignon is to champagne. The confections with the European name consist of two sweet wafers with a variety of fillings — mostly different types of chocolate — between them. They’re classy enough to come in their own individual paper wrappers, popular enough to receive shout-outs on hit television shows and tasty enough to generate reviews on food websites.
It’s no wonder someone might want to copy them. And that’s exactly what Norwalk-based Pepperidge Farms said has happened.
