The state Department on Aging has agreed to make changes that will put it in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. A complaint lodged by a deaf person with the U.S. Attorney’s Office asserted that the department didn’t make sign language interpreters or appropriate aids available at its programs and meetings, which prevented the hearing impaired from participating.

U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly announced on Dec. 28 that her office reached a settlement agreement with the department to resolve the complaint.
