The year 2015 ends with a series of accomplishments for the Judicial Branch and the ushering in of 2016 promises to bring more opportunities—and challenges. One of the most significant challenges we face is this: How does the Judicial Branch effectively serve the needs of both the bar and self-represented parties in order to fulfill its constitutional responsibility to provide access to justice for all?
As we continue to address this question through various case management initiatives, we are aware that there is concern among some in the legal profession that our efforts may hinder their ability to earn a living. So I would like to take this opportunity to be clear about what the branch is trying to do.
