A Connecticut medical equipment company accused of violating federal and state government health care laws with regard to the way it served customers with sleep apnea has agreed to settle the allegations for $600,000. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Connecticut, J&L Medical Services of Middlebury violated the state and federal False Claims Act in its treatment of Medicare and Medicaid patients.
As part of its business, J&L provides Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) devices and accessories to Medicare and Medicaid patients who have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea.
