In 2005, attorney Ann Rubin became the first woman managing partner at a major Connecticut law firm when she took the reins at what was then called Carmody & Torrance. Among her legacies is an ongoing initiative called Women@Carmody, which calls for the firm to enhance the careers of women lawyers and be leaders in gender diversity.

With its announcement of Ann Zucker as the new managing partner, effective Feb. 1, the firm now known as Carmody Torrance Sendek & Hennessey continues to live up to its promise. Zucker has been serving as assistant managing partner and leader of the firm’s business and personal services group. In a news release announcing her promotion, Zucker is described as being instrumental in the 2014 merger of Waterbury-based Carmody & Torrance with Stamford-based Sandak, Hennessey & Greco. The combined firm has more than 75 lawyers (more than a third of them women) in about 30 practice areas and offices in New Haven, Southbury, Stamford and Waterbury.
