A town attorney who sent a letter to a school board candidate admonishing her not to rummage through an elementary school dumpster did not violate election laws, according to the State Elections Enforcement Commission. The commission dismissed the complaint which the candidate, Laura Bernaschina of Fairfield, had lodged in September against Fairfield town attorney Stanton Lesser.

“The decision speaks for itself. There was no violation, and I was just doing my job,” Lesser said.
