Lake George is a popular tourist destination. Along with the scenic lake and New York’s Adirondack Mountains, the area is teeming with American history as battles from several of the nation’s early wars were fought in the region.

Like many towns that draw visitors from afar, Lake George touts itself as family-friendly. And so village officials grew concerned over the years as one of the many T-shirt shops continued to stir up controversy by selling apparel imprinted with vulgar messages and images.
