In the past few years, there have been a number of lawsuits filed against Connecticut private schools alleging that faculty members molested students back in the 1970s and 1980s. Now a similar accusation is being made against a public school district.
A 44-year-old man who attended Hartford schools is suing the city and its board of education. The plaintiff, identified only as John Doe, filed the claim recently in Hartford Superior Court. Doe alleges that a former vice principal at Fox Middle School, James H. Parham, subjected Doe to years of unwanted sexual contact starting in 1984, when Doe was 13 years old, and that the abuse lasted until he was 18.
