A Superior Court judge has ruled in favor of a Connecticut health care provider in a case where both a dentist and his former employer accused each other of breach of contract. An employment lawyer said the ruling was important because it upheld contract provisions that set conditions under which a departing employee could receive compensation for accrued time off.

Dr. P.K. Peter Lai was a dentist for Community Health Center Inc. (CHC), a statewide company that provides services to low-income patients. Lai, who had worked at the company since 2004, gave just 30 days’ notice when he quit in 2012 to accept a fellowship in Las Vegas. He then sought to be compensated for his unused time off.
