Meat cutter Angel Figueroa claims he was fired barely 24 hours after he called the Westport Health Department to complain about meat being sold in the Westport Whole Foods market. The national organic grocer claimed Figueroa was terminated for creating a hostile work environment, but Figueroa has filed a lawsuit claiming he was fired in retaliation for his health complaint.
Figueroa is being represented by Thomas Thornberry of Stratford, who said that Whole Foods has already presented an offer hoping to settle the claim before the case goes to trial. Thornberry said his client turned it down. In turn, Whole Foods said health inspectors found Figueroa’s claims to be untrue.
