When it came time for the National Association of Women Lawyers to determine if Merrick Garland is the man for the job to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, its president knew Hartford’s Collin Udell was the right woman for the task.
Groups around the country have offered their opinions on the D.C. Circuit judge’s appointment, including NAWL, which gave him a rating of “well-qualified,” the highest that can be offered. Udell, of counsel for Hartford’s Jackson Lewis, was among the 17 NAWL members who poured through 330 of Garland’s written opinions and dissents and interviewed those who have been a part of his legal career.
