A former Oxford police officer has filed a lawsuit against the town over his termination, claiming he was discriminated against by fellow officers because of his age and a disability he developed while serving in the military.
Gary Soules filed the federal lawsuit on May 9 against the state of Connecticut, state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and the town of Oxford. Soules previously filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in 2014, prior to his termination, alleging similar facts. That first lawsuit was dismissed in September 2015.
