George Soucie was parked in a loading zone on Washington Street in Hartford in February, and when he returned to his car, he found a white and red slip tucked under his windshield wiper blades. Normally, a ticket should be expected for anyone illegally parked in the city, but Soucie, as a state marshal, is exempt from parking regulations, and he has a sign on his dashboard to show for it.

Soucie and other state marshals have seen an increase in parking tickets left on their cars while on duty in Hartford, and it’s now an issue being dealt with in the state court.
