Annemarie Morrissey-Manter was a nurse at Hartford’s St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for 32 years. She won awards for her work and received great performance reviews from supervisors.

One day in 2012 she saved a man’s life in the cardiac intensive care unit of the hospital. Shortly afterward, she was fired for her actions, with the hospital saying she violated rules when she restarted a temporary pacemaker.
