The Connecticut Bar Foundation will receive nearly $2.9 million stemming from a settlement with Bank of America over its role in the sale of mortgage-backed securities that led to the financial crisis.

The nonprofit organization that administers funding to legal aid groups across the state said the settlement money would be used to provide legal assistance for low-income residents in foreclosure prevention and community redevelopment.
