A state court judge has ruled that Connecticut’s education funding system is both irrational and unconstitutional. The judge, however, did not question the amount the state spends for education.
The ruling comes in the long-running dispute in Connecticut Coalition for Justice in Education Funding v. Rell. The nonprofit advocacy group brought the lawsuit in 2005 on behalf of 15 students and their families in high poverty areas, such as in Bridgeport, East Hartford, New Britain and New London.
