A Stratford narcotics detective who claims the police department retaliated against him after he badmouthed the current police chief has been awarded $2.5 million by a jury in federal court in New Haven.
William Jennings filed a lawsuit against the town in 2013 claiming the police department violated his constitutional free speech rights.
