Former Connecticut Supreme Court Associate Justice Peter T. Zarella is stepping down from the bench and back into the law firm world.

Zarella announced his retirement Thursday. He is set to join McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter in January, the firm announced Thursday. He will be an of counsel member in the appellate and alternative dispute resolution practice groups, working out of the Hartford and Southport offices.
