One of the best things about conducting contests like Litigation Departments of the Year, and Legal Departments of the Year, and New Leaders in the Law is that it gives you a real sense of the breadth and depth of the state’s legal talent. And by that standard, the Connecticut legal community has much to be proud of.

It starts with our New Leaders, who represent the profession’s future. We received dozens and dozens of nominations from all across the state. An outside judging panel evaluated and rated the nominees. As you’ll see, the diversity is impressive. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and practice areas, from public interest people who helped shaped new laws aimed at protecting children, to big firm lawyers who helped their clients win seemingly unwinnable cases. They are all involved in pro bono work and their communities. The impression you’re left with are lawyers at the start of their career who don’t view the law as simply a job or business, but something more. That commitment is reflective in their achievements.
