Whitman Breed may be a small firm, but the matters its litigation department handles certainly aren’t. The firms represensts a wide range of local, regional and international clients in commercial litigation matters. Whitman Breed currently represents an international construction management firm in what is believed to be the largest pending construction litigation in the state of Connecticut. The firm represents an international investor in a matter involving the alleged fraudulent conveyance of assets purportedly worth in excess of $200 million in an action pending in New York Supreme Court. They also represent several local and national banks, a national title insurance company, and several municipal bodies.

The firm also gets results. It secured a victory for its accountant client in a malpractice case — and off-shoot of a marathon-long piece of litigation — that led to a seminal Connecticut Supreme Court decision that clarified the standards for summary judgement in the state. The firm also scored a win for Wells Fargo in a suit in federal court in which the bank’s clients were seeking to recover millions in investment losses. By winning at the motion to dismiss stage, the firm also saved Wells Fargo money by avoiding a lengthy and expensive discovery process.
