A former Fairfield attorney pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in New Haven to one count of wire fraud related to defrauding four clients of more than $824,000 over a three-year period.

John O’Brien, 53, resigned from the Connecticut Bar in June 2015. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and fines up to $1.6 million and restitution of $824,747 when he is sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven on March 23.
