Attorney Mickey Sherman notched a hollow victory when the Connecticut Supreme Court upheld his defense of Michael Skakel last week. But Sherman’s vindication means his former client’s murder conviction will likely be reinstated.
Sherman was criticized by legal experts and the media for how he handled himself and the evidence he presented during the six-week trial in 2002, 27 years after the actual murder of Martha Moxley took place. Skakel spent 11 years in prison after he was convicted of murdering his 15-year-old neighbor.
