In an apparent effort to reassert state control over its quasi-public trash authority, Gov. John G. Rowland said last week that Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will coordinate legal strategy to recover $220 million lost in a deal between the authority and Enron Corp.
Blumenthal, a Democrat, and Rowland, a Republican, have often been at odds politically, but both men said they share a common goal in this case-recovering the lost money.
