Normally, Old Saybrook defense attorney Jeremiah Donovan would be ecstatic after receiving word that his appellate arguments helped gain a new trial for a client.
But Donovan, a former federal prosecutor for 11 years, is trying to downplay the state Supreme Court’s recent decision in State v. Balbir Singh, which allowed Singh a new trial based on prosecutorial misconduct.
