According to New Haven lawyer R. Wynne Bohonnon, there’s a hole in the law that prevents lawyers from helping clients with a recurrent problem.

Typically, if a person is defrauded in a deal with a friend or acquaintance, there’s little in writing. Forms used by sellers, contractors or landlords typically have a clause in which the buyer agrees to pay the seller’s collection lawyer if he doesn’t pay. But it’s unusual for a buyer to gets a reciprocal promise-legal fees for a fraud action if one is legally warranted.
