Prominent Miami Beach litigator Victor Diaz has sued his former longtime firm, Podhurst Orseck, claiming he was inadequately compensated and asking the law firm open its books to him.

Diaz, who started working at Podhurst Orseck in 1985 as an associate and worked his way up to partner, filed the lawsuit Dec. 30 in Miami-Dade Circuit Court. He left the firm to launch his own Miami Beach firm, VM Diaz & Partners, four years ago.

At the time, Diaz said the split was amicable and he wanted to start his own firm in a city where he had a high profile.
