A state appeals court on Wednesday affirmed the kidnapping conviction and 55-year sentence imposed on a Miami woman in the infamous disappearance of 4-year-old foster child Rilya Wilson.

Her prolonged absence from state oversight caused a scandal in the Department of Children and Families over neglect and mismanagement in its child protection system.

Rilya allegedly was killed by Geralyn Graham in 2000 and reported missing in 2002.
