Details: In 2009, Broward General Medical Center received an anonymous tip that a nurse working in the cardiac stress lab was reusing saline on multiple patients while administering tests. She was terminated. The hospital discovered the reused and possibly contaminated saline may have been used on up to 1,850 patients from 2004 to 2009.

In October 2009, the hospital wrote the affected patients advising them to be tested for HIV and hepatitis as a precaution. They offered testing for the patients and their families.
