The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the removal of Broward Circuit Judge Laura Watson for misconduct in insurance litigation as a lawyer before she took the bench.

The court accepted the recommendation of the state Judicial Qualifications Commission as “the appropriate sanction” and noted it has removed at least one judge before for previous work as an attorney.

Watson aggressively fought punishment with a flood of court filings, charging state judicial regulators and JQC prosecutor Miles McGrane III with “perjury, fraud, spoliation of evidence” and violations of Florida Bar rules.
