About a million square feet of office space is in the construction pipeline for Miami-Dade—a dramatic turnaround for a sector largely overlooked in the burgeoning post-recession market.

A new report by CBRE Inc.'s global research arm shows nearly 998,000 square feet of offices are to be built by 2017, bringing new Class A options for the first time in years to some parts of Brickell, Aventura, Coral Gables, Doral and downtown Miami.

“The more forward-thinking developers are looking to capitalize on new office space at a time when you've had job growth,” CBRE senior vice president Shay Pope said.
