The University of Florida Levin College of Law is in discussions with the Florida Institute of Technology about creating a joint law degree program focused on technology matters such as patents, copyrights and intellectual property.

UF law dean Laura Ann Rosenbury confirmed her school is in discussions with the private Melbourne-based research and technology university.

Florida Tech president Anthony Catanese said the new degree program will focus on technology matters. He said it would start soon but did not give a time frame.
