Add the 3,000-member Florida Justice Association to the growing chorus of voices opposing reciprocity proposals proposed by a Florida Bar committee.

The FJA, a Tallahassee-based organization representing Florida's plaintiffs lawyers, issued a resolution Sept. 22 opposed to reciprocity and admission by motion, two proposals that would allow out-of-state lawyers to practice in Florida without passing the Florida Bar exam.

After polling its members, the association found a majority were opposed to the proposals, believing they do not “adequately address protection of Florida's citizens, businesses and others seeking justice in Florida,” the resolution said.
