The Florida Bar is dropping some of its strict attorney advertising regulations following a third court ruling issued in lawsuits challenging its mandates.

In the latest decision, a federal judge ruled Florida law firms may not advertise case results unless they are “objectively verifiable,” but they may claim a legal specialization or expertise even if they aren't board certified in a specific practice area.

The decision issued Sept. 30 by U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle in Tallahassee came in a case filed by West Palm Beach personal injury law firm Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley against the Bar in 2013.
