One of two teams of lawyers who successfully attacked Florida's same-sex marriage ban is seeking $457,219 in fees and costs.

The request filed last week with U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle covers trial and appellate court litigation going back to Feb. 28, 2014, when the lawyers challenged Florida's gay marriage prohibition in Tallahassee federal court.

On June 26, the U.S. Supreme Court decided Obergefell v. Hodges, a landmark ruling recognizing gay couples' constitutional right to marry. The high court ruled on cases from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit upheld bans in those states.
