Miami-Dade County Judge Diana Vizcaino knew she wanted to be a lawyer when she was a kid. She had barely started when she realized she really wanted to be a judge.

“I began to have judicial aspirations when I became a prosecutor as a young lawyer starting off,” she said. “And I said to myself, 'I'm going to pave my legal career in a way that will help me be well-rounded and have diverse experiences in both civil practice, criminal practice, private sector and public sector. I'm going to have my path direct me in a way that will prepare me for when I'm ready to begin that chapter of my career.' ”

Vizcaino grew up in a working class family in Hialeah and can't really say what sparked her interest in the law.
