Facing no opposition, Miami attorney Michael Higer has been certified as the Florida Bar's president-elect and will lead the 100,000-lawyer organization starting in mid-2017.
Higer, a litigation partner at Berger Singerman, was elected to the Bar's board of governors in 2008, representing Miami-Dade Circuit, and chaired the board's budget committee in 2014-2015.
Higer will succeed Tampa attorney William Schifino Jr. of Burr & Forman, who will be sworn in as president in June.
