The White House has tapped two Floridians to serve as members of the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes.

Rosemary Barkett is a judge on the Iran-U.S. States Claims Tribunal and is a former judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and former chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga is a partner and international arbitrator in Bryan Cave's Miami office.

Created by the Washington Convention of 1970, the panel is an international arbitration institution which facilitates legal dispute resolution and conciliation among international investors. The panel has resolved disputes involving countries like Ecuador and Cuba, awarding billions of dollars to foreign investors and companies.
