It took only a day for a defense attorney to file the first appeal citing the U.S. Supreme Court decision declaring Florida's death penalty law unconstitutional.
Cary Lambrix is facing execution Feb. 11 for the 1983 killings of Clarence Moore and Aleisha Bryant after a night of drinking at his trailer near LaBelle.
William Hennis of the capital collateral regional counsel's office in Fort Lauderdale filed a habeas petition in the Florida Supreme Court seeking a stay and asking for review of Lambrix's sentence based on Tuesday's high court ruling for another Florida death row inmate.
