It's been more than 20 years since Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles assembled a “dream team” of lawyers to represent Florida in tobacco litigation—but in some form, the team lives on.

Fort Lauderdale lawyer Scott Schlesinger, whose late father Sheldon Schlesinger worked alongside heavy-hitting Tampa attorney C. Steven Yerrid to take on the tobacco industry in the '90s, joined forces with Yerrid to win a $13.8 million tobacco verdict last month in Hillsborough Circuit Court.

“I haven't done any tobacco case except the big one,” Yerrid said. “I promised Shelly Schlesinger before he passed away that I would try a case with his son Scott.”
