Florida’s first judicial pay raise in 10 years came because of cooperation and communication among the leaders of the three branches of state government, Florida’s chief justice said Thursday.

Chief Justice Jorge Labarga thanked Gov. Rick Scott, Senate President Joe Negron and House Speaker Richard Corcoran for helping push the pay raise through — and for avoiding implementing proposals that would have been “detrimental impact, to say the least, on the judicial branch.”
