The building manager at the Miami-Dade Courthouse Center realized he had a problem when a chunk of ceiling fell in an 11-floor hallway during a torrential downpour.

Thomas Courthouse Center and its garage at 175 NW First Ave. through at least Thursday, and it will take much longer to repair ceilings and other wet walls and flooring, said Tara Smith of the Miami-Dade County Internal Services Department.
