Gov. Rick Scott named lawyers Renatha Francis and Joseph Mansfield to the Miami-Dade County Court bench.

The Monday evening appointments add a mix of criminal, civil and appellate law experience to the court and fill the vacancies left by Judges Jason Dimitris and Victoria del Pino, who were appointed to the Miami-Dade Circuit Court.

Francis will join the judiciary from Shutts & Bowen, where she specializes in representing insurance providers in personal injury protection litigation. The 39-year-old previously worked as an attorney at the First District Court of Appeal. Francis earned her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law and her bachelor's degree from the University of the West Indies.
