Attorney Kathy Deutsch likes getting high. She's done it on four continents so far, and scaled three of the tallest peaks in mountaineering's holy grail, the Seven Summits.

“I think some of this high-altitude mountaineering becomes an addiction,” she said. “There's not a really good answer for taking these kinds of extreme risks.”

Curiously, she took up mountain climbing after she moved to the flatlands of South Florida, and after she got into the law. But unusual detours seem to be a regular part of Deutsch's path in life.
