To the Editor:

The Board of Contributors article “Insurance Companies Forcing Their Way Into Policyholder's Homes” published Aug. 21 makes false and outrageous claims about insurance companies and the managed repair programs they've designed to restore and repair covered damage to a home. In fact, managed repair programs are a great option for homeowners to complete repairs through a trusted, pre-screened, licensed contractor with the full guarantee of their insurance company standing behind them.

Without managed repair, the homeowner has the burden of interviewing, managing and ensuring the contractor they choose is reputable and licensed, has a solid work plan, does the work to code and the homeowner's satisfaction, and warranties the work. Would you want your elderly parent or grandparent to shoulder that burden?
